GMC Organizes Clean-up Exercise

James Town branch of the GaDangme Muslim Council [GMC] has over the weekend organized a cleanup exercise within some principal streets of the township.

The exercise was a response to a clarion call by the Minister for Zongo and Inner City Development, Hon. Alhaji Siddiq Boniface Abubakar that the people of Zongo and Inner cities must live in clean environment.

Few months ago, the Minister was invited as a guest speaker at a function organized by the Council where he made a passionate appeal to the people of the Zongos to take up an initiative towards cleaning the environment.

In response to this call, the James Town branch of GMC has taken the lead to set the ball rolling by organizing its maiden clean-up exercise within their catchment areas.

In an interview shortly with the Chairman of the group Mr. Nurudeen Ayuba, expressed their commitment to continue with the exercise.

He said their outfit would ensure that the people of James town adhere to the environmental laws and adopt good attitude towards the environment.

The branch director of the Council Alhaji Mohammed Tahir, also indicated that the exercise would cover other areas.

He said their plans were to catch all corners of the areas and ensure people change their attitude towards the environment.
