Asafo-Atse Nii Tetteh ᴐkᴐn Jee-tuo III, chiefs and the people of Abola and its environs in the Ga Mashie have celebrated the only historic Homowo which follows after the grand Homowo is celebrated.

This yearly historic Homowo is always celebrated by the clan house of Asafo-Atse ᴐkᴐn Jee-tuo on Wednesdays, five (5) clear days after, and no any other clan house or chiefs or elders are allowed to also do same.

According to the elders, the clan house of the Asafo-Atse ᴐkᴐn Jee-tuo has the special right to celebrate this historic Homowo in the quest to welcome one of their great warrior, Asafo-Atse Nii ᴐkᴐn Jee-tuo I who made a triumphant entry into the Ga Mashie.

Asafo-Atse ᴐkᴐn Jee-tuo I, who was installed in 1777, was in the war front with their enemies for years; but he returned home when the celebration of the main Homowo in the whole Ga Mashie was over.

To welcome him home, his clan house had to celebrate another Homowo with him where fresh Kpekpoi was prepared for him to sprinkle within his jurisdiction again in Abola as Asafo-Atse ᴐkᴐn Jee-tuo I.

On this occasion, everyone dresses in white regalia to signify success in the war with the enemies.

In an interview with Ghananewsonline.com.gh, on the sideline of the main Homowo celebration, Asafo-Atse Nii ᴐkᴐn Jee-tuo III, with heavy heart appealed to all in the Ga Mashie to eschew making of troubles, especially the feuding factions to pave way for peace and unity to reign amongst them in the Ga State.

Asafo-Atse ᴐkᴐn Jee-tuo III, Nii Tetteh, who was installed 2017, (28 years after the death of predecessor), took advantage of this year’s Homowo to join Ghanaians to appeal to the youth to desist from any hard drug, tramadol, cocaine, wee among others, that has the tendency to destroy them.

He noted anybody that takes such hard drugs has no future but rather they are seriously destroyed beyond recognition and they virtually become deviant, criminals and problematic to not only their families but the society as well.

Asafo-Atse Nii Tetteh ᴐkᴐn Jee-tuo III noted also that some youth, especially those who engage in various criminal activities impregnate the young girls, some of whom are yet to attain the ages of 16 to 17, this ends up tormenting the lives of their parents who do no longer know peace.

To this effect, the worried Nii used the Homowo event to appeal to all the youth in the area to stop anything that could destroy their future and in turn bringing ‘depression and frustration’ to their poor parents; “a child that troubles the parent does not get the blessing”, he lamented.

In a related development, Nii Tetteh ᴐkᴐn Jee-tuo III, known in private life as Isaac Nii Armah appealed to the security agencies in the Greater Accra Region to help curb criminal activities in the area. He noted crime in Ga Mashie is on the increase and something serious must be done before it gets out of hand.
