TDCL Expresses Gratitude To President For Appointing A Unionist As MCE

Mr. Ebenezer Kodwo, Chairman of the Tema District Council of Labour (TDCL) has expressed gratitude to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for appointing Felix Mensah Nii Annang-La as Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE).

He said Mr. Anang-La who is a Unionist understands the problems of the entire workforce and how to find solutions and that his appointment was not a mistake.

“On behalf of the TDCL and the entire workforce of Tema, I thanked the President for appointing Mr. Anang-La and congratulate him also for his appointment”.

Mr. Kodwo made the remarks at the 2018 May Day Celebration Party in Tema on Tuesday.

He said the TDCL has tried, tested and tasted the leadership capabilities and integrity of Mr.  Anang-La, adding that, the experience gained by him in the management of labour issues would practically be implemented.

Mr. Kodwo said the MCE ability to deliver was demonstrated clearly during the 2018 May Day celebration.

He assured the President of the TDCL unflinching support to Mr. Anang-La in the execution of his duties as well as ensuring that all government policies and programmes be implemented in the Tema Metropolitan Area.

The Chairman said the MCE initiative, dubbed: “The Tema Restoration Agenda (TRA)” would also be fully supported by TDLC to see the light of day.

The TRA is an initiative instituted by the Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA) to restore the industrial city back to its initial status in the areas of infrastructure, sanitation, education, Health and socio-economic activities.

He said the Tema Metropolis as an industrial city could only be well managed by a Unionist like Mr. Anang-La, adding that, “the plight of workers must be handle by persons who has been in the same shoes.”

Mr. Anang-La in receiving an award on behalf of the deceased unionist acknowledged the contribution of workers in the development of the country.

He said the labour force in Ghana is an example for countries in Sub- Saharan Africa as they show a shining example in terms of productivity towards development.

The MCE urged the labour unions to put in their best to supporting government policies and programmes for President Akufo-Addo to succeed.

He also appealed to the people of Tema to support the TMA development agenda to developed the metropolis.
