Let’s Set A Day To Promote Our Culture – Accra Zabarma Chief
The Greater Accra Zabarma Chief and President of Council of Zabarma Chiefs, Sarki Musah Yahaya Yendu has urged tribes from Zongo Communities to set aside a day to celebrate and promote their culture.
He said there was the need for all the tribes in Zongos to promote their culture in the areas of durbars, arts, craft, music and dancing.
Sarki Musah Yahaya Yendu who doubles as the National Organizer of Council of Zongo Chiefs made this known on the sidelines of the International Hausa Day Celebration at the State House in Accra.
“It is rather sad to observe that we have left behind the culture and tradition of our great grandfathers as Zongo people whilst others have improved upon their cultures to make it more competitive” he lamented.
He said, the time has come for all tribes in the Zongos to exhibit their culture and tell their history to the world stressing that it will enhance state institutions’ understanding of the important roles most of the tribes in the Zongos played during the country’s fight for independence.
He called on Hausa youth to be more productive to ensure that the rights of the Hausa community in Ghana is respected.
The Greater Accra Zabarma Chief few weeks ago held a Durbar of Chiefs to showcase the traditions and culture of the Zabarma people.
The Durbar of Chiefs was aimed at bringing the people of Zabarmas in Ghana under one umbrella to foster unity and development among the Zabarma Chiefs.
It also aimed at promoting the rich heritage and telling the Zabarma story to the World.
The event attracted over thousands of people including Chiefs and opinion leaders within the Zabarma, Ga and Zongo communities as well as representatives of political parties.
Other tribal Chiefs were given the opportunity to tell their stories through cultural displays.
