K.T. Hammond, Thugs Beat and Threatened Death on Journalists
Four journalists have been beaten severely by K.T. Hammond and his ‘machomen’ at Asokwa in the Adansi North District of the Ashanti Region.
Hon. Hammond again threatened to kill and pulled gun on two of the journalists who were held hostage by his thugs.
The beaten four journalists were; Adnan Adams Mohammed, Iddrissu Abubakari Jara, Paul Mamattah and Nana Kwame Andoh all from Accra.
They were helping in the house to house peace education ahead of the crucial general elections and were mistook for the members of the ruling Parliamentary Candidate (PC) for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for Adansi Asokwa constituency, Lawyer Evans Amankwah.
It was only the timely intervention of the police who were called by an indigene of the town to come to the rescue of the two journalists.
Two of the four journalists were able to escape from the adversary of the thugs after they were severely beaten and hit with stones as well.
Hon. Hammond who was not happy with the police intervention warned the policemen neither to release nor grant the bill until the next day saying he has already called the District commander of Police for an action.
The Police commander who came to the police station where the two journalists were detained behave awkwardly complaining bitterly that why should the journalists be campaigning for the NDC and its candidate.
