The Aspiring Member of Parliament for Klottey Korle Constituency in the Greater Accra Region contesting on the ticket of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr.Prince Appiah Debrah has called on his constituents to tackle the sannitation challenge currently faced by the Constituency with all the seriousness it deserves.

This he said will be his number one priority when given the nod to represent the good people of the constituency in the upcoming Elections as theirMember of Parliament (MP).

Speaking to the media with regards to his role in curbing the Sanitation problem which has taken centre stage in the Klottey Korle area and its environs, the Parliamentary candidate hopeful, Mr.
Debrah explained that he will bring sanity back to the Municipality by re-activating that part of the Municipal code that prescribes fines for littering or in some instances, and depending on the
frequency of the offence, given prison terms for littering the environment when ever people are found culpable to serve as a deterrent to others.

Another measure to be employed to sanitise the city according to Mr. Debrah is the introduction of Dumpsters to be posited at vantage points of every household so they can fill it with trush and trucks will in turn, come to pick them for emptying at an affordable rate.

On the issue of hectic vehicular and human traffic that poses security and health threat mainly due to pedestrian shopping malls spreading the streets of the city, Mr. Debrah stated emphatically that he will make sure the sellers are resettled to a much spacious location in order to pave way for a free-flow vehicular traffic.

And by so doing, sellers who normally throng the place for shopping purposes, can do so in a hustle -free manner.

With Malaria wing the number one cause of death in the country , Mr. Debrah plans to disilt the chocked gutters by removing objects such as old vehicle tyres that are stucked in gutters often causing blockages of the free flow of water resulting in flooding when ever the city experience a heavy downpour.

Another measure to be strictly re-introduced will be the town council system where people will be summoned to appear before a summary Court to argue as to why the court shouldn’t pronounce him or her guilty of littering his or her surroundings.

“Am looking out to a day and era where we will have a strong Municipal Assembly, a strong Mayor who is willing to clean-up the city because having a clean environment will enhance the economic fortunes of our country because monies that would have other wise expended on drugs on malaria drugs could be channelled to other sectors that will in turn earn some foreign currency to help boost the economy leaving it with s favourable Balance of Payment “, Mr. Debrah explained.
