The Former President of the Republic of Ghana and the Flag-bearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), His Excellency John Dramani Mahama has promised to build a cashew processing factory for the people of Wenchi Constituency in his next government if he wins the upcoming December 7 general elections.
Mr Mahama was speaking at a durbar of chiefs and people organized in his honour at Nchiraa in the Wenchi Municipal of the Bono Region today.
According to him, people come to buy the cashew at a cheaper price, send to their country, process and brand it in their company’s name and exported for more profits at the detriment of the tireless Ghanaian farmers. This, he said, is worsening the plight of the farmers.
He then promised to put up a processing factory to deal with the issue.
The General Secretary for the party, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah revealed that, the next National Democratic Congress government would complete all its developmental projects which have been abandoned by the current government including the any good ones the NPP would leave behind after the December elections.
The Paramount Chief of Nchiraa Traditional Area, Nana Tabiri Yaw III expressed gratitude to Mr Mahama for his development projects he carried out during his tenure as president.
He appealed to Mr Mahama to continue with the projects in his (Nana) area where he (Mahama) left off when he returns to power.
The durbar forms part of Mr Mahama’s 4-day tour of the Bono Region.
