Greater Accra NDC Condemns Partisan Distribution of Food And Relief Items
The Greater Accra Secretariat of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), wishes to register our resentment against the partisan mode of distribution of food and other Covid-19 relief items in some deprived communities in the Greater Accra region.
We have received countless evidence-based complaints from our supporters who have been victims of partisan discrimination in the ongoing food distribution exercise being undertaken by the National Disaster Management Organisation(NADMO).
We are completely appalled by how a state-sponsored humanitarian program of food distribution in this time of crises, have been reduced into a partisan affair by state officials. This phenomenon is callous, reprehensible and must be condemned in no uncertain terms by all well-meaning Ghanaians.
We call on President Akufo-Addo to halt this shameful practice and adopt a nationalistic approach to the ongoing state-sponsored food distribution exercise.
Additionally, we have observed with regret, the chaotic manner in which food is being distributed by government to the vulnerable in violation of social distancing protocols. This has the potential to exacerbate the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic if not checked.
We therefore call on NADMO, and Ministry for Gender and Social Protection to properly streamline the ongoing food distribution exercise in consonance with acceptable social distancing and other precautionary protocols so as to ensure orderliness and the safety of our citizens. Ghanaians deserve better.
