GaDangme Muslim Queens Mark Women’s Health Day
GaDangme Muslim queens around the country have met at the ST. Kizito School in Accra to mark the International Day of Action for Women’s Health.
The occasion brought together some members of the GaDangme communities and opinion leaders to discuss issues relating to the development of women’s health in the country.
As part of the program, a free health screening was organized in collaboration with The Point Herbal Centre to offer free medical screening to the participants.
Speaking in an interview with Ghanaiandemocrat.com at the back stage of the event, the medical officer of the Point Herbal Center, Dr. Naomi Adusu explained that the centre agreed to partner the GaDangme Muslim Council in order to promote the use of approved herbal medicine in the Ghanaian society.
According to her, the centre aims at promoting healthy life style of the people, hence its involvement in a program like this.
The queen mother of Darkuman GaDangme Muslims, Hajia Fati Mahmoud Wattig added that the exercise coincided with the councils objectives of helping women live a healthy life style.
The queen mother who doubles as a Nursing officer at the Accra Psychiatric hospital urged Ghanaians to take mental health seriously.
She observed that people who are referred to the mental hospital have been traumatizing due to the bad perception surrounding psychiatric patients.
On her part, Khadijah Martey Larjeh, one of the Youth Queens advised ladies to take their health issues seriously adding “there is the need to visit health facility once in every three months to ensure early detection of any infectious diseases”.
For her, GaDangme Muslim Queens would champion the course of women development in the Zongos and advocate for healthy foods for the children.
