Former Abetifi DCE files Nominations to contest for MP
The former District Chief Executive (DCE) for Abetifi in the Eastern Region under the ex-while Mahama administration, Hon. Samuel Asamoah aka “Adwuma wura” has filled his nomination forms at the Electoral Commission’s district office to contest the Parliamentary seat on the ticket of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2020 general elections.
The Parliamentary candidate was accompanied by hundreds of youth and party faithfuls, clad in party t-shirts and were highly convinced that the former DCE has an unprecedented performance track record that will bring victory to the NDC in December polls.
Addressing journalists after filling his nominations, Hon. Asamoah indicated that, his unbeaten track records as a former DCE in the district is enough to convince the constituents to vote for the NDC in the December polls.
“There are so many incidents that takes place during election and therefore no one can claim that a particular place belongs to them as some are saying about Abetifi. I dare say that, once I Asamoah leads the campaign, we won’t need insults to win because our track records in the constituency tells clearly that it has always taken the NDC to invest in several prudent developmental projects to develop the Kwahu Ridge”, he said.
According to him, the NDC during their tenure, built so many developmental projects that has opened and enhanced the socioeconomic lives of the people of Okwahuman.
“There are so many developmental projects that we did for Okwahuman from 2009 when the NDC won power such as the Kotoso ultramodern clinic that is being purported to be upgraded into a poly clinic status, the abandoned Abetifi referral hospital, Maame Krobo and Donkorkrom E- School Blocks, Chips Compounds, water projects and huge GETFUND educational projects that were all done during the ex-while NDC administration and I want to assure you that, these records will be told to the people and I have confidence that victory will surely be ours come December 7th”, he added.
The Parliamentary candidate and former DCE, further refuted claims by the NPP that, the NDC did not have anyone to contest the Abetifi seat.
“I want to state emphatically that it is a blatant lie for some persons to say that we did not have anyone to contest the seat. What actually happened was that, the leadership of the party strategically decided to wait and observe the chances and at the end, I Samuel Asamoah, aka “Adwuma wura” has been chosen to contest since my performance and records as DCE for the districts puts me ahead of all four persons who expressed interest to contest for the seat”, he noted.
Hon. Samuel Asamoah however noted that, instead of the NPP to invest and continue with completion of the all important Abetifi referral hospital, they have chosen to play politics with the project, abandoning the project till date.
Hon. Asamoah therefore promised to influence the swift completion of the project in the first year of the second term of H.E. John Dramani Mahama in 2021.
“Its should be noted that I initiated that hospital project and started it. It would have been the first government hospital in the Kwahu Ridge since all the existing hospitals within our Ridge were started by religious bodies. I say again that the project is our priority and we will immediately ensure that we complete and commission it for use in our first year to serve our people”.
