Father Threatens to Kill Son For Converting to Christianity

One, Hamza Abdul Karim, a newly converted Christian has incurred the wrath of his father and the entire Muslim community of Kumasi .
Mr. Hamza, a phoenix designer from Oforikrom, a suburb of Kumasi in the Ashanti Region, recently did the unexpected by denouncing Islam and accepting Christ Jesus as his savior and Lord.
The father who felt his son has betrayed not only the family but Islam as a whole has threatened to kill him should he not revert back to the Islamic faith.
Hamza’s conversion to Christianity was vehemently opposed by the entire family led by the father Mallam AbdulKarim and Hamza’s elder brother, one, Mohammed AbdulKarim.
The dejected father told his newly convert son not to return to his house or referred to him as his father until he does a u-turn to return to the Islamic faith.
Over my deadbody should my son or any member of my family dumps Islam for another religion.
I have disown Hamza for now until he reverts back to Islam or incur my wrath and that he should be ready to have me to contend with.
Mallam Abdul karim further threatened to kill Hamza himself or hire some assassins to eliminate the son for accepting to be a Christian.
When this reporter got in touch with the beleaguered Hamza on phone, who confirmed that it is true he had converted to Christianity and that his life currently has come under a serious threat due to that.
Hamza who was tight lipped on his current location due to security reasons and fear for his dear life noted that he is not ready to revert back to Islam.
He disclosed that his family and the entire Muslim community were against his decision to cross carpet from Islam to Christianity. They have threatened and mistreated me since my conversion and this makes my life unsecure.
I have accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior and nothing will make me change my position.
This portal learnt that Hamza was physically attacked by his elder brother Mohammed recently when the former visited his father’s house.
He referred to Hamza as a traitor and betrayer to the Islamic faith and that he deserves to be killed to serve as a deterrent to others.
The brother attempted to hit Hamza’s head with a machete but Hamza was able to used his hand as a shield to prevent the machete from touching his head.
Hamza, who felt unconscious, sustained some injuries on his forehead,finger and some parts of the the body. Hamza subsequently was hospitalised for sometime where he was treated for the injuries he sustained as a result of the physical attack.
Hamza reported the incident to the police but the police failed to take action against the brother, Mohammed Abdulkarim who is an influential politician within the ranks and file of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).
As at the time of going to press, Hamza’s father has reported the matter to the Zongo Islamic Vigilante Group and the leadership of the Islamic community of Oforikrom.
The Vigilante Group is known and feared for its volatile and dangerous attacks on victims they referred to as traitors of Islam.
They attack, capture, torture, punish and sometimes kill their victims with impunity.
