Ashanti Region Forum on National Education Reforms Opens in Kumasi

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene has opened the Ashanti Region Forum on National Education Reforms at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Amoakohene emphasized the need for an education system that aligns with the country’s development needs, addressing the educational needs of the youth for present and future generations.
The forum, under the theme “Transforming Education for a Sustainable Future,” brings together stakeholders, including teacher unions, civil society groups, faith-based organizations, traditional authorities, and students, to deliberate on effective strategies to address challenges in quality education delivery.

Prof. Rita Akosua Dickson, Vice-Chancellor of KNUST and chairperson of the forum, noted that education has the power to foster socio-economic development and growth, and that mobilizing views from diverse groups can lead to collaborative knowledge to inform policy formulation based on data and evidence.
The forum marks a significant landmark in fulfilling the current government’s promise to make education a tool for implementing social mobility and ensuring rapid national development.
