Vice President Commissions New Lands Commission Head Office
The new head office of Lands Commission has been commissioned by the Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia on Monday, November 25, 2024 to boost land administration and management in the country.
The state-of-the-art facility, which is next to the 37 Military hospital and next to the survey school, is intended to create an environment that is favorable for the Lands Commission to fulfill its purpose.
It’s a seven-story edifice with a 250-seat auditorium, a gym, and a baby care center, among other contemporary technology amenities.
The Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in his address, stated that government is committed to making the office a “Centre of excellence in land service delivery,” emphasizing the new complex’s role in improving service to the public.
“The Commission has been heavily reliant on manual records and the physical movement of files, sometimes even requiring crossing the road to another office. I have consistently noted that we cannot progress without addressing these challenges,” Dr. Bawumia remarked.
“Today, I am pleased that we have delivered on our promise to complete this modern head office complex for the Lands Commission.”
Hon. Abu Jinapor the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, in his remarks stressed the significance of the edifice to the economic growth and development of the country, noting the past challenges due to the absence of Regional Lands Commission offices.
He outlined the government’s land administration reforms, including digitization efforts, and the nearing completion of office complexes for the National Lands Commission office in Tema.
Key figures that attended the ceremony were traditional leaders, past Executive Secretaries, CEOs of sister agencies, Chairman of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Lands and Forestry, and some Members of the La Traditional Council, other Traditional councils members, and Management members of the Commission.
The inauguration has put in a a new era in land administration in Accra, focusing on improved service delivery, efficiency, and tackling past challenges through collective effort and dedication.
