The Paramount Chief of Asogli State and President of the National House of Chiefs, Togbe Afede XIV has passionately cautioned the media to at all times exercise some cautiousness when reporting about him or his office.

In so doing, he said, the media could avoid misleading headlines or content which in most cases undermined his integrity and create public disaffection.

In a statement issued in Ho and signed by the Secretary to the Asogli State Council, Mr. Stephen Tetteh, corrected certain aspects of the reportage on the speech made by Togbe Afede XIV during yesterday’s courtesy call by the Former President John Dramani Mahama.

According to the statement, there was a report that suggested that Togbe Afede XIV had said that the country for almost four years under the leadership of H.E. Nana Akufo-Addo had seen joblessness.

“We want to state categorically that, Togbe Afede XIV lamented about poverty and joblessness in Ghana, but did not make any mention of, or reference to, H.E. Nana Akufo-Addo, the NPP Government or any Political Party in his comment on poverty and joblessness”.

It said that even though Togbe Afede XIV spoke about the recent deployment of soldiers and other security personnel to the various parts of the Volta Region, his focus “was on what he thought was the reason: the lies that have been told about the importation of masses of people from neighbouring countries up to three weeks ahead of registration or voting”.

The statement noted that, the audio version of the full speech
delivered by Togbe Afede XIV during the visit by the former President is in wide circulation.
