The 4billion Dirty Deal Cooked At Anyaa-Sowutuom NDC
A group of scheming Executives of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Anyaa-Sowutuom Constituency is counting the minutes and hours as they eagerly beckon August 24, to hurry here.
This is because that day is what the NDC has fixed for nationwide Parliamentary primaries; a party event that the Anyaa-Sowutuom Constituency executives plan to use to roll out an agenda to elect a front-man as Parliamentary Candidate, who would then be used as a cash-cow.
These scheming executives who fancy themselves as kingmakers have a cherry-picked aspirant whom they plan to put on the 2020 Parliamentary ticket at all cost. After they have succeeded in getting him elected as PC, the front-man would then be used as poster boy to attract campaign funds from the national leadership of the party.
Whatever sponsorship money that would come in for campaigning would then be shared among the scheming executives and the front man.
According to information dug up, the scheming party executives plan to nicely packaged a budget that would attract a combined inflow of at least ghc400, 000 (₵4billion) from both national and the party’s Presidential Candidate, John Mahama.
After the money has come in and has been shared, the executives and their poster boy Candidate will sit back and run a wishy-washy campaign that is sure to lead to the NDC losing Anyaa-Sowutuom in 2020. These executives believe Anyaa-Sowutuom is an NPP stronghold that cannot be annexed from the ruling party, and is better utilized as an election time goldmine.
The agenda to make the windfall and divide it as the spoil of politics is backed by a gentlemen’s agreement that was signed between the executives, four of whose names have come up, and Emmanuel Adotey Allotey, a former Constituency Treasurer.
A fifth executive, who has an oil contract with the Akufo-Addo Government and has therefore been hiding his NDC membership has also strongly come up. Names will be named soon after an assemblage of evidence from a paper trail that we are following yields bank accounts.
But plan is to push Emmanuel Allotey on the 2020 ticket so that he fronts for the campaign cash that would later be shared.
Constituency insiders say the 4billion old cedi amount had been inspired by what is largely believed to have accrued to the 2016 Parliamentary Candidate, David Abossey Braid.
A man widely loathed in Anyaa-Sowutuom, Abossey is said to have used his candidature in 2016 to attract up to that amount and kept the cash to himself without either properly campaigning or sharing the money with party executives.
Emmanuel Allotey, who had run unsuccessfully for the ticket in 2016 and earlier in 2012, thought that 2020 would be very opportune after Abossey had allegedly made a mess of the campaign with his greed in 2016.
However, members of the top brass executives of the Constituency had learnt their lessons from the Abossey experience and so made it clear that this time round, they would, “not sit down and let one man carry the money go chop,” hence the deal with Allotey for him to front as PC.
After the gentlemen’s agreement had been struck, the conspirators decided to do everything possible to make Allotey go unopposed. Anybody, who dared to state interest in running for the same ticket would be run down with a vicious campaign of insults and attacks.
Without knowing the deal that members of the top brass of the Constituency had made, Irene Edem Mensah, daughter of a former Branch Chairman of the party declared interest in the 2020 Parliamentary ticket.
Emmanuel Allotey’s campaign team immediately launched a vicious campaign of attacks. In addition to calling her a witch and a stranger, the Allotey campaign team, also insulted her late father.
Matters however came to a head when the hapless woman was physically shoved and assaulted during a Constituency peace walk. That attack nearly led to chaos.
As Irene Mensah continued to be at the receiving end of the attacks however, executives of the constituency intentionally looked aside while some of them, especially a very vocal woman called Auntie Lucy who is with the Anyaa- Sowutuom constituency executive member of the party, gave the vicious campaign a clean bill of health saying such attacks were normal in politics.
Somehow, the move to hound Irene Mensah out of the race, so Allotey could go unopposed did not happen; then the plan suffered even more setback because all of a sudden, the Chairman of the Constituency, Alhaji Amadu Mahmoud, also announced his interest in the same 2020 Parliamentary ticket.
As insiders would later reveal, the deal to make Emmanuel Allotey PC so he can be used as front man for campaign cash was cooked behind the back of Chairman Mahmoud, by the other executives. The conspirators are said to have left him out because he was seen as an illiterate.
It is not clear if Chairman Mahmoud’s belated decision to run for the ticket was informed by his discovery of the 4billion cedi dirty deal, however, immediately he made his intention known, the Allotey camp turned attention away from Irene Mensah to the Constituency Chairman.
The Constituency Chairman’s alleged illiteracy was what was used against him – Emmanuel Allotey’s campaign team members just kept insulting him openly as an illiterate who ought to have known his place.
But the decision to insult Chairman Mahmoud was the undoing of the Allotey campaign, because even though he may not be armed with formal education, Chairman Mahmoud is a seasoned political tactician; a politician’s politician who knows his onions.
Soon after the attacks on him started, a dirty little secret of Allotey’s emerged and turned things around sharply. As Constituency executives and members shockingly learnt, Emmanuel Allotey has some dirty files with the Bureau of National Investigations that he does not want anybody to know about.
The secret emerged when one Bismark Antwi Boasiako, a member of the NDC, got angered by the insults on Chairman Mahmoud and published a WahtsApp conversation he had with Allotey, in which Allotey was seen begging that his BNI secret be not released.
In the same WhatsApp chat, Allotey was seen begging that his past sex life should not be revealed. The revelation has since become a conundrum for the Allotey campaign which has since beaten a hasty retreat from insulting others, into defending the indefensible.
But this was not all; later, a petition suddenly emerged from the blue against Allotey’s candidature. Nobody knows where that petition came from, but many are suspecting that it came from Sowutuom siriki’s camp.
The conspiring Constituency executives would however douse the petition secretly and allow Emmanuel Allotey, who had been shaken by events to file his nomination forms long after nominations had closed. Allotey filed in the evening of last two weeks Friday, and was allowed to pay his filing fees on the next Monday.
Meanwhile, after the bombshell from Bismark Antwi Boasiako threw the Allotey campaign into disarray, the scheming executives increasingly became disillusioned with him. A plan was later hatched for the deal to be made with a fourth person, who later emerged as an aspirant for the ticket.
The Sariki of Sowutuom, was approached and asked to enter into an agreement to accept support from the so called kingmakers of Anyaa Sowutuom NDC, so that when he wins, the campaign money can be shared.
The Sariki was allegedly told that all of Allotey’s supporters would come to his camp, and everything would be done to make him PC. However, the Sariki is said to have told the group of conspiring Constituency executives that he was not interested in the deal.
It is said that he found Allotey and his BNI baggage too scandalous to associate with him and his camp.
Following from there, the deal to set up a poster boy for the purposes of attracting campaign funds for the sharing has been hanging in the balance as Emmanuel Allotey’s supporters go bananas on the Anyaa Sowutuom constituency’s various WhatsApp platforms.
Among them is an executive member of Anyaa-Sowutuom Constituency branch of the party, popularly called Auntie Lucy. She is vowing to travel to Benin and the Volta region to invoke powerful demonic gods against Allotey’s opponents. Among others, she has mentioned Nogokpo.
Interestingly, selfsame Auntie Lucy had earlier approved attacks by members of the Allotey camp. She holds herself out as practicing Catholic, a thing many are now saying is fake Christianity because she clearly dances with the devil himself.
Sadly, most of the Allotey supporters puffing and ranting are not aware of the 4billion cedi dirty deal that has been cooked between him and the conniving executives. They don’t know that they are huffing and puffing on behalf of a man who plans to make money at their expense.
This is not the first time Emmanuel Adotey Allotey has done deals behind the back of his campaign team and supporters with the intent of abandoning them later. In 2012, Emmanuel Allotey had run for the Anyaa Sowutuom Parliamentary ticket with Carl Wilson and Sedina Tamakloe Ationu.
Emmanuel Allotey had led his supporters on till the last minute, when he suddenly announced that he was stepping down to back Carl Wilson. His supporters and team members had been totally taken aback because the man never informed anybody of that intent ahead of the sudden public announcement.
Later, it was to emerge that Carl Wilson, who had been placed in charge of confiscated cars at the Castle, had promised Allotey a car. He is also said to have promised Allotey an arrangement to set up a car park that the two would run together. This cannot be independently verified but it is an open rumor in the Constituency.
Meanwhile, David Abossey Braid, the 2016 Parliamentary Candidate for the Constituency, around whom rumours circulate that he pocketed some 4billion old cedis in campaign money sent to him during the 2020 election, has jumped to the defense of Emmanuel Allotey. According to him, in a write-up, Allotey’s nightmare from the release of his dirty secret with the BNI, is the doing of Chairman Mahmoud, whom he also accuses of sabotaging his campaign, that of Obuobia Darko Opoku and Dan Sackey.
