The teachers fund as one of the best group contribution policies in the country has on Saturday launched it’s 20th anniversary climax its success story.

The fund which was established some 20 years ago, has improved the living standards of teachers across the country.

Teachers fund was also established to reduce the financial stress teachers in the country go through whenever they are in need of funds to cater for other needs.

Over the years, the funds has seen a significant improvements in the areas of contribution and membership subscription.

Speaking at the anniversary launch in Accra, the Minister of employment and and Labour Relations Mr. Ignatius Baffour Awuah cautioned the fund managers to ensure equal benefiary to all its members.

The Minister advised members of the board to discharge their duties with fairness and in a transparent manner.

He pointed out that the teachers fund is one of the successful and well implemented policy in both private and public sectors.

He expressed his readiness to work with the fund adding that “having had the opportunity to have discussions with the fund managers, I have confidence that this will go along way in achieving the set target for the fund”.

The promoter of the fund, Mr. Andrews Kwame Pianim gave vivid account on the formation of the teachers fund and some of the challenges encountered along the line.

Mr. Pianim having played a key role in the early formation of the fund was very optimistic of the its growth in the near future.

Accounting to him him, the fund that started with the strength of 10,000 members has grown to over 350,000 members across the country.

The occasion was climax with the fund awarding hard working and higher contributors to the fund in various regions.

Individual awardees who received their citation from the Greater Accra Region includes Olivia Acheapong and Mr. Ebenezer Sowah.

Others from the Upper East Region were Margaret Akparibo,Augustine G. Ayirezang whiles Mr. Cornelius Yao Sekley and Wisdom Osei Bonus from the Volta Region.

Mr. Raymond Baku from Upper West, Mr. Samuel  Tetteh Dzrah from Eastern Region, Mr. Victor De-Graft Ehison from Ashanti Region, Mr. Kwabena Owusu Nkehah – Ashanti Region and Emmanuel Sorsah from Brong Ahafo Region.

Some special awards went to Mr. Kwame Pianim,  Mr. As are George  Yamuah, Mr. Paul Osei Mensah and Irene Duncan-Adanusah.

The rest are Mrs. Rosalyn Darkwa, Mr. Samuel Ofori Adjei, Mr. Sam Okudzeto, Mr. Asiedu Mensah and Frederic Frank.Speaking at the anniversary in Accra, the Minister for employment and and Labour Relations Mr. Ignatius Baffour Awuah cautioned the fund managers to ensure equal benefiary to all its members.
