Standard Chartered Bank Ghana steals €1million Belonging to its Client

The nefarious activities by the management and staff of Standard Chartered Bank Ghana Limited is impacting negatively in the growth of the bank.

The unsuspecting shoddy deals by the bank has forced customers either to close their accounts with the bank or the account left empty due to the fear of diversion of funds by the bank.

A painstaking investigation carried out by the Ghanaiandemocrat.com (GD), has revealed that an amount of One Million euros belonging to its client, Five Star Mining Company Limited, could not be traced in the account.

This portal has learnt that the fund was transferred into the account of Five Star Mining from its business partner based in London. The said amount after hitting the account of Five Star Mining Company was immediately frozen by the bank for the reason of been suspicious of money laundering.

The bank alerted the government anti money laundering agency which placed the company under investigation and its account frozen.

After the investigation by the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO), which it found the allegations false and ordered the de freezing of the company’s account.

This portal can authoritatively report that not even the court and EOCO orders could compel the Stanchart Bank to de froze the account since 2016.

The Economic and Organized Crime Office EOCO in its letter dated December 29, 2016 and signed by its Executive Director sighted by this portal ordered the bank to de froze the account of Five Star Mining Company, Solomon Adalaqueye and Sohin Security.

Our source in the bank reveals that the bank is reluctant to de froze the said account due to its inability to prove the whereabouts the cash.

Meanwhile the act and the show of disrespect the law by the bank has send bad image to its shareholders as one can tell how the bank is struggling to remain in competition with other financial institutions across the country and  globally.
