Special Prosecutor’s Office was solely established to hunt Mahama’s appointees – Joyce Bawa
Special Aide to Former President John Dramani Mahama has called out President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo indicating that the establishment of the Special Prosecutor’s Office and appointing Martin Amidu was with the predetermined conception of not fighting against corruption but a vendetta game plan against National Democratic Congress (NDC) appointees.
Madam Bawah Mogtari notes the ill-intended purposes of the office exploded in the faces of the government and Martin Amidu when they were caught up in their own plot.
The relative of the former President believes, the snowball effect of the lack of results of the OSP, goes to buttress her point that the office was set in motion by the current president to hunt NDC members, but that agenda has failed woefully.
“When President Akufo-Addo swore in the first Special Prosecutor, he did not intend that office will fight corruption, it was for vendetta largely because they had demonized the last government so much that they were convinced that if they set up this office, they will get some appointees to prosecute. They started to expose and shame them but while at it, they forgot they were chasing fire at a neighbour’s their backyard was burning too”
“So when they finally realized that corruption has engulfed them and they could no longer use the Anas Principle, what did they do, they started to fight with their own system”, she mocked
Madam Mogtari notes all corruption indices do not favour the government, and it’s very difficult for them to bring up the subject matter.
“The corruption perception index is a whole lot worse. The poverty situation is also worse; media freedom records are also bad. This government cannot talk about the fight for corruption because they have lost it and performed worse”, she bemoaned.
