The  Nima anti-gay group ,The Safety Empire’’ had claimed responsibility for the killing of one Kofi Issaka, a known gay practitioner at Nima, a suburb of Accra, in the Greater Accra Region.

The group known for its dangerous clamp on homosexuals within the Nima enclave and its environs in its recent video that is trending on social media claimed that they killed Kofi Issaka because his activities had brought shame to the area and Islam as a religion.

The leader of the group, one SulleyFuseni, speaking in the video stated that they are now looking for the friend of the late Kofi Issaka by name Kamaldeen Suleman who is believed to be a gay partner to the deceased.

Mr. SulleyFuseni, popularly called Doya was seen in the video with other persons wielding machetes and other dangerous weapons with the picture of Kamaldeen, threatening to fish him out to face the wrath of the group.

According to him, the gay activities of the two had brought a big shame to the Muslim populated area. ‘’ We will lookout for Kamaldeen whereabouts and make sure we teach him a bitter lesson.

‘’ We killed Kofi Issaka,’’ he boasted ‘’ and we will kill Kamaldeen too anytime we get him’’. Where can he run to, our men are everywhere in Ghana looking for him and very soon we shall get him’’.

The claim by the vigilante group buttresses earlier claims by the sister of Kamaldeen that she suspects a foul play in the murder of Kofi Issaka and that she wasn’t sure it was her brother who murdered his friend.

The Safety Empire is an anti-gay movement based at Nima, a suburb of Accra that is known for its notoriety towards homosexuality within Nima and its environs. According to them, gay practice is frowned upon by the constitution of Ghana as well as both Islam and Christianity.

The Movement , led by its leader Sulley Fuseni , with about three hundred membership has vowed to crash any gay practitioner or anyone seen to be supporting gay rights promotion in the area.
