Association of Road Contractors(ASROC) have given government two weeks ultimatum to pay them or take necessary action if it fails to heed to their call.

ASROC accused the government of deliberately starving and failing to pay road contractors their money since2016.

According to them government’s continued indebtedness to ASROC is worried at the delay in resolving the issue of outstanding payments across board.

Speaking in an interview with Ghanaiandemocrat.com in Accra, the National Chairman of ASROC, Daniel Attoh Agroh, noted that amount owed by GOG estimated arrears of about 1.1 Billion Ghana Cedis as at December 2016, whiles Ghana Road Fund is about 1.8 Billion Ghana Cedis as at October 2018.

He said the Association and its administrative offices are almost nonfunctional at the moment due to indebtedness.

Mr. Agroh explained that court cases by statutory bodies like the Ghana Revenue Authority and Social Security and National Insurance Trust, SSNIT, wants to close down their offices because of non payment of their taxes.

Mr. Agroh said if government fails to heed to their demand within two weeks, ASROC will picket at the Ministry of Finance.

One could remember that few weeks ago, the Minister of Finance and Economic Planning Mr. Ken Ofori Atta stood in front of honorable members of Parliament during the 2019 budget statement and created an impression that government has cleared all money owed to the road contractors.
