Rita Odoley Sowah Salutes Women And Calls For Equal Opportunity

The former Municipal Chief Executive Officer of the La Dadekotopon Municipal Assembly, Rita Odoley Sowah, has encouraged women to participate actively in politics at all levels of government and demand the adoption and implementation of policies and programmes that will unburden and transform the lives of women. 

She also called on women not to underrate themselves but take up challenging roles to bring out their best qualities. Madam Odoley Sowah made the call at La when she met the women’s wing of the La Dadekotopon Constituency of the National Democratic Congress to celebrate the International Women’s Day. 

Today Friday 8th March 2019 marks the International Women’s Day celebration for all women in Ghana and the rest of the world for their immeasurable contribution to the development of Ghana. It’s a day that celebrates the women for their immeasurable contribution to the social, economic, cultural, and political development of Ghana. 

The International Women’s Day 2019 is on the theme; “Balance for Better”. The theme focuses on innovative ways in which gender advocates can advance gender equality and the empowerment of women, particularly in the areas of social protection systems, access to public services and sustainable infrastructure. 

Madam Odoley Sowah called on women-interest stakeholders, particularly the Government of Ghana, the Parliament of Ghana, the Ministry for Gender, Children and Social Protection, civil society organizations, the media, and the public to intensify efforts at addressing challenges confronting women in Ghana. 

Madam Odoley Sowah congratulated women in the La Dadekotopon Municipality especially women’s wing of the National Democratic Congress in the La Dadekotopon Municipality.

She also used the occasion to announce her intention to contest for the upcoming NDC Parliamentary primary election in the La Dadekotopon Constituency. 

Madam Odoley Sowah pointed out that she is committed to improving on the lives of the people of the constituency. 

She noted that she left office as Municipal Executive Officer for the La Municipal Assembly, nothing much has been done for the municipality for development adding that the people need somebody who will bring development to the people of La.

Madam Odoley Sowah further stated that it is time for a woman to lead the people of La Dadekotopon as a Member of Parliament to bring more development.

According to her, when she was the Municipal Chief Executive of the La Dadekotopon Municipal Assembly, she related with the people and worked hand in hand with the technocrats to achieve more for the municipality.

Madam Odoley Sowah further said that if given the nod as Member of Parliament, she will make the grassroots feel of belonged through acceptable discourse so that the people would love to come out to help the NDC.
