A formal request has been made to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to initiate immediate investigations into the deaths of eight Ghanaians during the 2020 general elections.
In a letter signed by Dr. Callistus Mahama, Secretary to President John Dramani Mahama, the President, is seeking justice for the victims and their family.
The letter proposes a comprehensive and transparent investigation, including the establishment of a dedicated investigative taskforce, collaboration with witnesses and families, review of electoral security arrangements, use of forensic evidence, and collaboration with electoral civic bodies.
The President’s office is also requesting periodic updates on the progress of the investigation to maintain public trust and transparency.
