Presidency Launches Review of Last-Minute Payroll Appointments by Outgoing NPP Government

The Office of the President has directed all heads of government institutions to submit information regarding employees added to the payroll in the final days of the outgoing NPP administration.
This initiative aims to eliminate questionable appointments that may strain public finances.
Chief of Staff Julius Debrah signed the directive, underscoring the necessity for transparency and accountability in managing government payrolls.
Institutions must provide comprehensive details for all personnel added to the payroll on or after December 7, 2024.
Required information includes the employee’s full name, designation, identification number, appointment date, and date of payroll addition.
The deadline for submissions is set for January 31, 2025. Institutions encountering difficulties or needing clarification are encouraged to reach out immediately.
This directive has been shared with key officials, including the Vice President and the Secretary to the President, highlighting its importance for payroll integrity.
The government’s efforts to verify payroll records, especially those added during the John Mahama administration, are essential for ensuring accuracy and accountability.
Non-compliance with the submission deadline may result in increased scrutiny as the government works to streamline payroll processes and address discrepancies.
