In a decisive move aimed at safeguarding national assets, President Mahama has ordered an immediate halt to the sale, lease, and processing of all transactions related to State and Public Lands in Ghana.

This directive, communicated by Dr. Callistus Mahama, Secretary to the President, on January 10, 2025, underscores the government’s commitment to transparency and accountability.

The directive requires an immediate cessation of both ongoing and pending transactions to allow for a thorough review of the existing framework governing land management.

The Lands Commission has been instructed to prepare a comprehensive report detailing all recent and ongoing transactions involving State and Public Lands within the next 14 days.

This initiative marks a significant effort to prevent potential state capture and misappropriation of resources, particularly in light of concerns regarding practices under the former Nana Addo-Bawumia administration.

The President’s directive is viewed as a crucial step toward restoring public trust and ensuring that national assets are managed responsibly for the benefit of all Ghanaians.
