Peace Ambassador Appeals for More Police Post in Zongos
The Zongo Peace Ambassador Mr. Abdullai Mayuka a.k.a Fiston has appealed to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mr. David Asante-Appeatu to allow more post visibility in the Zongo communities to curb the high rate of crime.
According to the Peace chief, lack of Police visibility in the Zongo communities contributing negatively in the fight against crimes.
For him, there is the need to institute more police post in densely populated areas within the cities to reduce crime rate.
“I think if the Ghana Police Service could institute more Police post in our communities will help reduce some criminal activities in the areas”, he said.
He added that “People with bad intention will rethink their plan if there is a nearest police post within a community”.
Speaking in an interview with Ghanaiandemocrat.com, Fiston explained that due to the number of peace programs he initiated over the year brought down the crime rate to normalcy within Nima-Maamobi and Accra Newtown enclaves.
He cited that the distance from where the police station is situated to the communities is one of the major problems making crimes difficult to tackle in these areas.
Sitting police post within the communities, according to Fiston would go a long way in tackling and reducing crimes in the areas.
He therefore called on the government and appropriate stakeholders to engage members of the communities for such an initiative to be implemented.
