Oduman residents hoot at Health Minister over their bad road network
Minister of Health, Kwaku Agyeman-Manu, was greeted with jeers as his convoy made its way through the streets of Oduman in Accra, to inspect the progress of work at the Oduman Clinic.
The Minister is on a two-day tour of some five communities in the Greater Accra Region, to inspect the state of polyclinics in the communities.
Residents of Oduman, however, used his visit in the area as an opportunity to register their displeasure at the deplorable state of their roads.
Speaking to the media after his visit, the Health Minister bemoaned the state of roads in Oduman and other places in the Greater Accra Region.
He, however, promised to lobby the roads minister to include the roads in Oduman in government’s next budget.
He mentioned that after traveling around the country for some time, he’s noticed that even Accra, the national capital, has some of the worse roads in the country.
“What I will do is that I will talk to the roads minister; they are fixing some roads I do not know if the DCE/MCE has been informed yet, and if this part hasn’t been added, I will go and plead if we can push it into the budget.”
“Luckily, we are getting close to the budget period… I think the roads are just not good, I was telling my bodyguard and my driver I have been traveling up the country and it looks like some roads in the regions and the districts are far better than some parts of Accra as we are seeing. We should also give some priority to some of the underlining areas like Oduman here.”
