NPP Promotes Bawumia With Biblical Quotation
The Director of Communications for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Richard Ahiagbah, has drawn a biblical parallel to highlight the leadership and contributions of Vice President and presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, describing him as a “good and faithful servant” in line with the parable of the bags of gold in Matthew 25:14-30.
Speaking during a press engagement at the party’s headquarters in Asylum Down, Accra on Wednesday, 27 November 2024, Mr Ahiagbah cited the parable, which tells the story of a master who entrusts three servants with varying amounts of gold before embarking on a journey.
“The first two servants double their entrusted gold, earning the master’s praise and rewards. The third servant, however, buried his gold, offering no returns, and is ultimately cast out into the darkness.
“Bawumia is an example of the good and faithful biblical servant because he has served Ghana well and deserves commendation and reward.
Like the first two servants in the parable, the vice president has maximized the opportunities and responsibilities entrusted to him for the betterment of the country,” Mr Ahiagbah said.
Key excerpt
Mr. Ahiagbah further highlighted a key excerpt from the parable: “So take the bag of gold from him and give it to the one who has ten bags. For whoever has will be given more, and they will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what they have, will be taken from them. And throw that worthless servant outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”
He noted that this biblical reference underscores the importance of diligence, accountability, and reward for good stewardship, values he attributed to Dr. Bawumia’s leadership.
Ahiagbah lauded the Vice President’s initiatives, particularly in the areas of digital transformation, economic reforms, and governance, as evidence of his effective stewardship.
“In Dr. Bawumia, we see a leader who has not only been entrusted with Ghana’s resources but has also delivered tangible results that have positively impacted lives,” Mr Ahiagbah said.
The NPP Director of Communications called on Ghanaians to recognize and reward such commitment by supporting the Vice President in the upcoming elections.
Wicked, lazy Mahama
The NPP Director of Communications said John Mahama, on the other hand, is an example of the biblical “wicked and lazy servant” who did not live up to expectation in his four years as president of this republic.
“Like the master in Matthew chapter 25, Ghanaians voted to cast John Mahama out of office in 2016. Somehow, he thought the 2016 decision to cast him out of office was a flash in the pan, but in 2020, Ghanaians affirmed that 2016 decision. Now, in 2024, let’s, in a landslide, retire the former president from politics,” Richard Ahiagbah said.
Mismanagement
In his statement, Mr Ahiagbah indicated that most revealing is that former President Mahama gave up when his mismanagement made life difficult, and Ghanaians demonstrated to demand better economic management.
“He said no amount of demonstrations would move him because he was a dead goat. The balance of a leader’s job is dealing with challenges, but the former President has shown he can not deal with them,” Richard Ahiagbah noted.
Mr. Ahiagbah reiterated; “We must vote to show John Mahama and the NDC that we can not afford the risk of electing a president who cannot respond to the needs of Ghanaians in challenging times.”
He pointed out that the former president did not perform well in office between 2013 and 2016, so he does not merit any reward from the electorates.
