Information gathered by ghanaiandemocrat.com has it that Private Lotto Operators, Agents and Writers in the country have been duped millions of Ghana cedis by the National Lottery Authority NLA under the pretence of giving them liscense to operate fully.
This according to our impeccable source, some quite number of manipulations orchestrated by the government to sideline Veterans Administration Ghana (VAG) through National Lottery Authority (NLA) to collapse the private lotto operations.
Our source revealed plans by the Director General of the NLA, Kofi Osei-Ameyaw to deliberately collapse their operations in the country.
The source said the NLA criminalization of private lotto operations had resulted in high rate of unemployment in the country adding that “their members are decent citizens of ghana who also help in job creation”.
Some angry operators and agents who spoke with ghanaiandemocrat.com pointed out that the move by President Akufo-Addo’s government to collapse private lotto business in the country through NLA and VAG would deepen the already existing unemployment situation in the country.
According to them, they do not want to drive its activities underground but wished to work with government within a legal framework to contribute their quota to development
One would remember that the late President Mills amended Act 722 to allow private individuals in lotto business to be licenced and regulate their operations by VAG.
However, the government still wanted NLA to license and regulate the private lotto operators, but NLA lost the case and at the Court.
“In spite of this, the NLA started manipulating the VAG to stop issuing or renewing of license”, the source alleged.
The source told ghanaiandemocrat.com on condition of anonymity, alleged that the government and the NLA strategically asked then to pay Ghc120, 000 instead of the Ghc60, 000 the operators pay yearly to VAG; this makes VAG to also stops issuing or renewing license in the bid to frustrate and collapse the jobs of these private lotto operators.
To make their plight more worsen, NLA and VAG have threatened to arrest any private lotto operator and the writers who will be seen writing what is usually termed ‘Banker to Banker’.
It is gathered that the government has been tormenting the private lotto operators since its assumed power in 2017.
Even though, they assured government of their co-operation to promote private sector revenue generation from the lotto business by working with any government to register their members for their participation.
