New Committee Formed to Vet MMDCE Candidates Ahead of Appointments

The Ministry of Local Governance, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs, in collaboration with the Office of the President, has established a seven-member committee to evaluate candidates from various districts vying for the positions of Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) for presidential appointment.

According to a statement, the vetting process will begin on February 6, 2025, and the committee has one month to submit its report to President John Dramani Mahama for further action.

Chairing the committee is Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the Chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC). The committee also includes the party’s General Secretary, Fiifi Kwetey, along with Hons. Dr. Valerie Sawyer, Alhaji Collins Dauda, Cletus Avorkah, Emmanuel Kwesi Bedzra, and Naa Momo.
