The Tragedy at a Glance

On August 6, 2025, a Ghana Air Force Harbin Z-9 military helicopter carrying key government officials – including Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah and Environment Minister Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed – crashed into a forested mountainside in the Adansi-Akrofuom District, Ashanti Region. The delegation was traveling to Obuasi for a high-level event on combating illegal mining. All eight occupants, including senior military personnel and flight crew, tragically lost their lives.
