The Greater Accra regional constituency organizers of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have registered their displeasure about the way in which the government has reneged on its promises to appoint them as National Disaster Management Organization’s (NADMO) Directors.

They’re therefore calling on the government and the party to reconsider its decision and stick to the promise made to them during the campaign season.

Addressing the media in a press conference in Accra on Tuesday, the leader of the group Mr. Gad Ackwerh explained that during the election campaign, they (Organizers) were assured by the Party of being appointed as NADMO directors but do not understand why the last minute u-turn.

“We have however, been hit with some rather discomforting news, that the Members of Parliament in the Greater Accra Region, under the NDC, have been given the slots to decide who is appointed to the NADMO, which is to the disadvantage of us, the organisers, and also a sharp reverse of what we were promised.

“We do not want this matter to create any further tensions, as this disappointing news has caused us to question the motives and intentions of the Party leadership. We, feel we have been treated unfairly”.

We therefore called on the government and the president to intervene and look into the matter of we the organizers in order to forestall any eventuality.

“We thus, call on the President, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, the National leadership of the NDC, through the Greater Accra Regional Chairman and other executives of the NDC, to immediately address this matter, and ensure that the Organisers who sacrificed their time, energy, mindset and all to ensure the success of the elections for the NDC, get what is due them”.

PRESS STATEMANT : GREATER ACCRA REGIONAL NDC PARTY ORGANIZERS

We, the Organisers representing the various Constituencies of the National Democratic Congress, (NDC) in the Greater Accra Region, have observed and have some very pressing concerns which we feel our party leaders and the Government has to address immediately, to avoid any further tensions brewing in the party.

Before the last elections, which were held in December, 2024, we the Organisers met and constantly planned and undertook various strategic assignments and missions.

These strategic moves, went a long way to ensure that we won and increased the Parliamentary seats in the Region from 20 to 31, which is an outstanding record.

Our activities also ensured a wide win in the votes garnered for our Presidential candidate, who is now the President of the country, His Excellency, John Dramani Mahama.

Before the elections, we the Organisers were assured by Party leadership, that if we succeeded in undertaking our organizational duties, and ensuring that we win this election, we would be given appointments in the NADMO, as other party executives were also assured some other appointments also.

We have however, been hit with some rather discomforting news, that the Members of Parliament in the Greater Accra Region, under the NDC, have been given the slots to decide who is appointed to the NADMO, which is to the disadvantage of us, the organisers, and also a sharp reverse of what we were promised.
We do not want this matter to create any further tensions, as this disappointing news has caused us to question the motives and intentions of the Party leadership.

We, feel we have been treated unfairly, as the old adage of “MONKEY DEY WORK BABOON DEY CHOP” has been meted out to us.

We want the Parliamentarians to know that without us the Organisers, they might have not gotten the votes they did, knowing what we did during the campaign period to support their campaign efforts. We have suddenly been sidelined, with varying excuses ranging from facts that we are not Degree holders to other rather discriminatory reasons, which we find not only unfair, but rather insulting.

We do not want these acts of the top executives and appointed Heads of the NADMO and other organizations, and also the NDC leaders, to create any unnecessary tensions amongst us, and thus go further to affect the party as a whole.

We thus, call on the President, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, the National leadership of the NDC, through the Greater Accra Regional Chairman and other executives of the NDC, to immediately address this matter, and ensure that the Organisers who sacrificed their time, energy, mindsets and all to ensure the success of the elections for the NDC, get what is due them, so they know they are still regarded and duly compensated by the Party and government.
