The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has expressed profound sorrow over the death of iconic Ghanaian highlife musician Charles Kwadwo Fosu, affectionately known as Daddy Lumba.

In a heartfelt statement issued by the party’s National Chairman, Hon. Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the NDC said it received the news of Daddy Lumba’s passing with “shock and disbelief,” describing him as a towering figure in Ghana’s music industry who transcended generations and united Ghanaians through his timeless songs.

“Daddy Lumba belonged to that class of Ghanaian musicians who transcended every barrier and was loved and admired by each and every one of his fellow citizens,” the statement read. “His death is yet another sad testament of the unpredictability of life and death and the merciless manner in which it claims the bright and the beautiful, and the young and the old.”

The party extended its deepest condolences to the family, friends and fans of the late music legend and assured them of its full support during this difficult period.

“As the family and friends prepare to give him a befitting burial, the NDC party stands ready to be of comfort and assistance,” the statement added.

Concluding with a prayerful farewell, the NDC wished Daddy Lumba eternal peace, stating, “May the soul of Charles Kwadwo Fosu, aka Daddy Lumba, find eternal rest and peace in the bosom of the Almighty God.”

Daddy Lumba, who rose to become a national treasure through decades of musical excellence, leaves behind a rich legacy of classic hits and cultural impact.

Daddy Lumba, fare well.
