Nana Owusu Achiaw Is The 2024 Best Farmer of The Year

The best national farmer of the 2024 was awarded Nana OWUSU Achiaw of the Sekyere District in the Ashanti Region of Ghana.

The announcement made at Alesa hotel in Accra during gala dinner.

Nana took a cash of GH¢1 million sponsored by the Agricultural Development Bank (ADB) PLC.

Ernestina Osei Tutu from the Akwapim North Municipality in the Eastern Region was also adjudged the National Best Female Farmer.

Ms. Tutu received a cash prize of GH¢200,000 sponsored by the government as well as a standard tractor and accessories provided by the Alliance for Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA).

As part of the prize, the National Best Female Farmer would also undergo a capacity building training and a study tour of the country together with 29 regional and district award winners.

To continue motivating and recognising the works and efforts of the farmers in the country, the celebrations continues annually after the inception and is subse­quently incorporated into regional and district level recognition.

This year’s celeberations
has been set on the theme: “Building climate-resilient agricul­ture for sustainable food security,” a commitment by the government to adapt agricultural practices in response to climate change chal­lenges.

As part of the activities that marked the 40th anniversary of National Farmer’s Day celebrations, Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) in partnership with Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture De­velopment (MoFAD) and Ghana Cocoa Board launched a five-day celebration and exhibition, where a total of 190 exhibitors in the agricultural value chain from across the country displayed assorted ag­ricultural products including food crops, agricultural machinery and agric imports in Accra.
