“My Heart Is Heavy” – Greater Accra Minister Linda Ocloo Breaks Silence on El-Wak Tragedy

The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Hon. Linda Ocloo, has broken her silence following the tragic stampede that claimed the lives of six young women at the El-Wak Army Recruitment Center yesterday.
In a statement filled with emotion, Hon. Ocloo described the heartbreaking scene she witnessed as “profoundly distressing,” expressing deep sorrow and sympathy for the affected families.
“As a woman and as the Greater Accra Regional Minister, I am deeply saddened by this heartbreaking incident. Witnessing the scene firsthand was profoundly distressing,” she said. “My thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones of the victims during this difficult time.”
She noted that the incident serves as a painful reminder of the need for stronger safety protocols and effective crowd control during national recruitment and similar large-scale events.
“This tragedy serves as a solemn reminder of the need for stronger safety protocols and better crowd management measures in all public exercises of this nature,” she emphasized.
Hon. Ocloo further assured that her office is collaborating with security agencies and relevant authorities to ensure a full investigation and to implement practical measures to prevent future tragedies.
The Regional Minister concluded with a message of comfort, urging the nation to rally behind the affected families in prayer and solidarity.
“May the souls of our departed sisters rest in perfect peace and may their families find comfort and strength in this moment of sorrow.”
