Muslim Personalities Awarded For Hard work
Muslim Groups Ghana, a civil society organization (CSO) has awarded some Muslim personalities within the Zongo and Muslim communities who have contributed to the development of the country.
The awards, was also aimed at honoring the hardworking Muslim personalities of the year 2018 to augment their efforts and contributions towards the progress and development of the Muslim communities.
The group in collaboration with Ghana Hajj Voice, the Northerners and Zongos Concern Youth Association Ghana and Muslim Broadcasters Live which put together resource to recognize the efforts Zongo personalities, have also called on other philanthropic organizations to follow suit.
The award category includes the Best Hajj Chairman, Best Muslim politician, Best Muslim Philanthropist, Best Muslim Best Greater Accra Zabrama Chief, Best Muslim Personality, Best Muslim Parliamentarian, The Most Promising Muslim Politician, best Muslim Journalist of the year, Best Muslim Police Officer of the year, Best Hajj medical team director, Most Outstanding Muslim Personality of the year among others.
The colorful ceremony was graced by number of dignitaries which includes the National Chief Imam of Ghana Sheikh Osumanu Nuhu Sharubutu, Hajj board Chairman Sheikh I. C Quaye, the flagbearer hopeful of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Alhaji Nurideen Iddrisu and other high profile government delegation.
Briefing the media at the sideline of the event, the Chairman of the group, Alhaji Halidu Abubakar Galaxy reiterated the need for the awards adding that “society who does not recognize its heroes/herons is not worth celebrating”.
According to him, the award will help motive others especially the youth to have passion in contributing their quota towards the development of the society the live in.
Alhaji Galaxy commended President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Mahamoud Bawumia for the creation of the Inner Cities and Zongo Development Ministry with the sole aim of given more development to the Zongos and inner cities across the country.
The Muslim Groups Ghana Excellence Awards, he said, has come to stay and the groups would continue to award hardworking Muslims for their support to the people within the Muslim communities.
He called on all Muslim philanthropists to help improve the living standard of the people within the Zongos especially the venerable in the society.
He further called on the youth to desist from abuse of any form hard drug which may endanger their lives and that they should involve themselves in a productive venture
Alhaji Galaxy appealed to the Accra Metropolitan Assembly boss Nii Adjei Sowah to take pragmatic measures in dealing with the issues of street begging which he described us a national issue that needs serious attention.
For him, begging is a prohibited practice in Islamic teaching and added that “those parading themselves begging in the streets of Accra must be arrested and prosecuted to set as a deterrent to others”.
Individuals who were awarded includes Alhaji Musah Osman – Best Hajj Agent of the Year 2018, Shekh Yinusaha Osman – Best Muslim Personality of the Year 2018, and Dr. Zakaria Seidu –Best Hajj Director of Medical Team of the Year 2018.
The rest are Hajia Mariam Mohammed Sissy as the Best Muslim Journalist of the Year 2018, Hon. Sheikh IC Quaye – Best Hajj Chairman of the Year 2018, Dr. Hajj Labaran Issah Bara – Best Muslim Philanthropist of the Year, Hajj Iddrisu Tanko – Best Muslim Police officer of the Year, Hon. Abdul Rauf Tanko – Best Muslim Parliamentarian of the Year and the best Greater Accra Zabarama chief went to Umar Abubakar Tanko.
