The injured Bright Boateng after he was discharged from the hospital.

A 24 year old Mason, Mr. Bright Boateng was on Sunday , April 14, 2019, physically attacked by unknown persons at Budumburam Camp, near Kasoa in the Central Region.

According to the Mason who doubles as a caretaker for a house in the vicinity, he was in the house when one young-man came and told him that some guys’ outside have a masonry job for him.

‘’ The  young-man   asked that I follow him to the guys’ who needed my service which I obliged and   to my surprise I met some five heavily built persons at the gate who demanded for my phone’’.

The Mason refused to hand over his mobile phone to them which led to a hot confrontation between him and the guys.’’ They however over powered me and took the phone from me forcefully’’ he recounted.

When he demanded to know why they have taken his phone, one of them responded that they were checking to see if they could get the contact of his master, the house owner which led to a struggle between him and the five and one of them hit my jaw with a heavy blow.

He noted that the guys’ became furious and started beaten him mercilessly with their fists, boots, sticks and other objects. As a result of the serious beatings, he sustained injuries on his forehead, mouth, legs and at his back.

The vulnerable mason however managed to escape from his attackers and called to inform his master’s wife of what has happened to him. ‘’She asked me to lodge a complaint at the nearest police station which I did but only after returning from the hospital for treatment”.

When this reporter got in touch with Bright Boateng , he confirmed the incident and said that after reporting the matter to the police, he was issued with a medical form to attend the hospital for treatment.

Responding to whether he suspects a foul play in the attack, Mr. Boateng said   that those same five heavily built persons have on two occasions approached him to enquire about the whereabouts of the owner of the house, one Yusif Dawuda Sidik.

The first time they came they asked if I know of his whereabouts and that   has he been coming to the place and I told them that he has not been to the house for more than three years now and I understand he has traveled abroad but it is his wife who on some occasions does visit the place.

In the hit of the beatings, I heard one of them saying that it is your master we are after but we are only punishing you to send a strong signal to him that we shall surely fish him out from his hideout.

Bright Boateng was however tight lipped on whether he knows of what the master Yusif Dawuda Sidik has done to that has incurred him the wrath of the guys’.

The traumatized mason has hinted of leaving the house for fear of his life and to also avoid future threats and attacks.
