Man Attacked and Butchered for Converting to Christianity
A man believed to be in his early 30s, was attacked and butchered by unknown assailants at Alaba, a suburb of Kumasi Metropolis in the Ashanti Region of Ghana.
According to a family source (name withheld) to this portal that several warning threats were issued to the deceased Gadafi Mohammed ,to stay away from making friendship with Christian friends but fell on deaf ears.
It is alleged that the elder brother of the victim Nuhu Mohammed, who is also the chief Imam of the area warned the younger sibling against his Christian friends or face his wrath.
According to an eye witness the incident happened around midnight where a group of three well built men broke into his room and attacked him.
The men who were holding sticks and machetes started beating the victim for his continuous friendship with Christians and visiting their churches.
According to the eye witness, he overheard the thugs threatening to kill the victim after subjecting him to severe beatings.
In an interview with this portal shortly after the attack, the victim, Mr. Gadafi Mohammed accused his elder brother Nuhu Mohammed for conspiring with the thugs to harm him.
Narrating the substance of the story, Gadafi explained that the elder brother has warned him several times to desist from making friendship with his childhood Christian friends adding that “if you don’t stop seeing your Christians friends you might end up losing your Islamic faith”.
To him, the elder brother had already suspected him of attending church services whenever the friends were going to church.
