Paris, France –
President John Dramani Mahama of Ghana and French President Emmanuel Macron have pledged to deepen bilateral relations between their two countries, following high-level talks at the Élysée Palace in Paris on Thursday.
The meeting, which took place on the sidelines of the 2025 Paris Peace Forum, focused on strengthening cooperation in economic development, regional security, and diplomacy. President Macron began the meeting on a solemn note, extending condolences to President Mahama and the people of Ghana for the recent passing of former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings.
The two leaders commended the Paris Peace Initiative for promoting global dialogue and peace-building. They reaffirmed their countries’ commitment to shared values of democracy, stability and sustainable growth.
President Mahama praised France’s long-standing support for Ghana’s development and underscored the need for continued collaboration in energy, education, and trade. “Our partnership with France has been rooted in mutual trust and respect. It is time to elevate it to the next level for the benefit of our peoples,” he stated.
President Macron, for his part, hailed Ghana’s role in promoting regional peace and stability in West Africa, pledging France’s continuous cooperation in both economic and security matters.
The Paris Peace Forum, now in its eighth edition, serves as an annual platform for world leaders and organizations to discuss solutions to global challenges including conflict, inequality and climate change.
