President John Dramani Mahama has unleashed a US$78 million funding injection to JUSTMOH Construction, shattering the impasse on the critical Takoradi-Agona-Nkwanta road project. The decisive intervention, announced during the President’s inspection of the delayed works on December 12, 2025, is set to revitalize the stalled initiative, a vital cog in the Trans-West African Highway linking Ghana to Côte d’Ivoire.

The project’s prolonged stagnation, precipitated by the previous administration’s failure to honour payment certificates, has been decisively addressed.

“Last week, I directed the Finance Minister to pay all your outstanding certificates, which amount to almost 78 million dollars, so that you can continue the project and complete it ahead of schedule,” President Mahama declared, injecting fresh momentum into the endeavour.

Underscoring the corridor’s strategic significance, the President emphasized that the N1 highway’s completion would be a game-changer for regional trade and movement, unlocking a plethora of economic opportunities for communities along the route.

He assured that the project, along with other abandoned or delayed infrastructure initiatives, would be propelled to completion under his administration’s stewardship.

Addressing the challenges posed by the domestic debt exchange programme, President Mahama pledged that contractors who demonstrated resilience and remained on site despite financial constraints would be duly compensated.

“All those projects that were halted because of the debt exchange, the contractors stayed on site and continued some work to keep the projects alive. After January, the Minister will begin paying the additional costs they incurred and ask them to fully return to site to continue work,” he affirmed.

Western Regional Minister Joseph Nelson hailed the government’s Inflexible commitment to revitalizing key infrastructure projects in the region.

“On behalf of the chiefs and people of the Western Region, I want to thank you for keeping your promise to continue projects that were halted under the previous administration,” he said, echoing the sentiment of a region poised to reap the benefits of renewed progress.

This bold move is set to reinvigorate Ghana’s infrastructure landscape, with far-reaching implications for regional connectivity and economic growth.
