Let’s Support our PWDs with Sustain able Opportunities – Kwahu West MCE
About sixty-eight persons with disabilities (PWDs) ,in the Kwahu -West Municipality in the Eastern Region have recieved an economic and sustainable support to help better their lives.
The gesture which is a revised edition of the previous insufficient financial token from their share of the assembly’s common fund that was shared for them but couldn’t take them out of their predicament of begging on the streets.
The sixty eight PWDs received items such as large bags of maize for business purposes ,still and video cameras for their photography and media works,deep freezers for frozen foods and water business, industrial sewing machines,hair dryers,laptops for commercial printing purposes and other beneficial items.
Others also received products that could help augment their agricultural activities such as life goats,good breed rabbits and sheep for rearing purposes.
Speaking to newsmen after the presentation,Hon Yaw Owusu Addo the Municipal Chief Executive said the items distributed were requested by the beneficiaries themselves.
He said that people born with disabilities have great and wonderful talents that are hidden within them and families must begin to focus on those opportunities when they find some members of their families in such conditions.
Hon Yaw Owusu Addo further emphasized that educating these brothers and sisters within our societies is very necessary because by that we can unearth their God giving talents.
He cites great and wonderfully talented persons such as ace musicians Ray Charles,Steve Wonder and even a former chieftaincy minister of this country as persons with disabilities who have excelled in their conditions.
The Kwahu West Chief Executive pleaded with philanthropist and well meaning Ghanaians as well as churches and NGO’s to frequently donate to the assemblies to support the PWDs who are in such conditions.
He however promised that the second and third badges of PWD’s will soon receive their supports as well.
