Lakeside Donates to Nsawam Inmates
As part of their social responsibilities, the lakeside keep-fit Association in Accra, has donated some items to the inmates at the Nsawam prison. The prison which is meant to take 818 inmates now has bout 4000 inmates which makes life unbearable, for this reason, the keep- fit Club together with their stakeholders donated non Alcoholic beverages, toiletries, rice, cooking oil, Sanitary Products, used clothings etc to them.
Speaking with Ghanaian democrat, the Public Relations Officer of lakeside keep fit, Zak Abdul Rahman indicated that, it is important for Ghanaians to pay much attention to the inmates at the Nsawam Prison by regularly donating items to them. This according to him will help make life much easier for them in there.
‘This place is more like a second home to everyone because lawyers, police, judges, doctors just to mention few are all here some through not fault of theirs. It is important we at least show them that we still care and not to totally neglect them, this isn’t the end for us at lakeside keep fit Association because we will visit again’, he pointed out.
The head of sports at the Nsawam Prison DSP Sowah Daniel Duah thanked the lakeside keep fit for their kind gesture and called on cooperate institutions and individuals to support the inmates.
‘like Oliver Twist, we want more because the number is huge so no amount of donations or items is too small for us. This items is more but please we need more’, he added.
He has however cautioned Ghanaians especially the youth to desist from actions that can lead them into trouble or create problems for them.
“Be careful who you mingle with, what you say or do because the Nsawam Prison isn’t a lucrative place”, he concluded.
