La Community GaDangme Tijaniya Muslim Chief Imam Advises Youth Against Use of Tramadol
The La community Muslim Chief Imam, Alhaji Ibrahim Leetei Mensah, has called on the youth to desist from the use of tramadol and other hard drugs to be integrated in society.
He maintained that the country can only develop on the wings of discipline and good morals among the citizenry. Alhaji Ibrahim Leetei Mensah said this in a interview with Ghanaian Democrat at La after the Eid-Ul-Adha prayers when the La Dadekotopon Muslim Community converged at the forecourt of the La Traditional Council.
The Imam noted that the use of tramadol is becoming increasing among the youth and urged opinion leaders to step up to curb the menace in society.
He said victims mostly 18 – 25 years have no or little knowledge about the dangers involve in the use of such hard substance just to get high.
Alhaji Leetei also called on the political leadership of the country to ensure peaceful coexistence among themselves irrespective of their political colours to put the interest of the nation first.
The Imam therefore advised parents to closely monitor their children to prevent them from engaging in negative practices which can ruin their future aspirations.
He said political leaders in the country must rally support behind President Nana Akufo Addo to deliver on his mandate and bring policies that will uplift the living condition of the people.
He therefore challenged religious leaders to stand up and restore discipline in the country and speak against the increasing social vices that engulfed the youth.
Very Rev. Fr. Newmann Tettehfio of Parish Priest St. Maurice Catholic Church, La who represented Most Rev. Charles Gabriel Palmer- Buckle, Metropolitan Archbishop of Catholic Archdiocese of Accra revealed that Muslims and Christian worship one creator and have been living peacefully in the country over the years.
To him, both religion have something in common by way of their teachings, be it in arm given, zakat and fasting to please the Almighty God.
On his part, the Member of Parliament for the area hon. Vicent Sowah Odotei appealed to the Muslim Ummah to use the occassion to preach peace and development in the municipality.
