As Ghana’s korle bu teaching hospital commemorate the 100th anniversary since its establishment.

it is worth celebrating the countless stories of people who have transformed their lives through their services.

The Hospital successfully launched its 100 years anniversary celebration with a call on Ghanaians and the world at large to join in celebrating and appreciating 100 years of training, research, advocacy, partnerships and above all excellence healthcare delivery.

At Alisa Hotel on the evening of November 29th, the hospital launched its ambitious project called leadeship project.

The launch was attended by some past board members, Chief Executive Officers (CEOs), directors, deputy directors, staff and other invited guests.

The year long celebration is under the theme: “Hundred years of leadership in quality healthcare delivery, through training, research, innovation, and partnerships. 100 years of memories, 100 years of saving lives, 100 years of groundbreaking interventions, 100 years of innovation, and the depth of training quality personnel.”

In his welcome address, the acting CEO Frank Owusu Sekyere thanked various stake holders who contributed in cash and kind that has brought advance health care to many people across the country.

He announced the anniversary logo and short code (713100#) for revenue mobilization calling on the general public to donate using the code.

Senior Specialist in Neurosurgery at Korle-Bu, Hadi Muhammad Abdullah, made mention of the fact that the the Legacy Project comprises five key components, the first of which is an in-service training centre.

This facility will support continuous professional education for nurses and doctors, ensuring that all staff at Korle-Bu are well-trained and up-to-date with the latest medical practices.

The second part of the project will focus on simulation-based training, with plans to establish a centre dedicated to teaching anatomy through dissection.

The third component will integrate AI, robotics, and biomedical engineering to provide doctors with the tools needed to innovate and enhance patient care.

Delivering the key note address, the CEO of Ga mantse foundation Nii Lante Bruce who represented the Ga mantse, his royal Majesty King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II,
congratulated Management, the Board, Retirees, staff and all stakeholders for their efforts since the Hospital’s establishment on October 9, 1923.

He indicated that the establishment of Korle Bu marked the beginning of the development of many professions in the field of healthcare in Ghana, such as medicine, nursing, laboratory science, among others.

He added that professionals trained in Korle Bu were largely posted to different parts of the country to set up new hospitals and health facilities, and hence, the impact created is felt across the country.

The Ga Mantse has decided to partner with Korle Bu with funds of 6million cedis to fund some uncompleted projects and to enable Korle Bu continue to play a leading role in healthcare delivery.

He stressed the importance of supporting the hospital’s efforts to ensure that future generations of medical professionals reach their full potential.

“Korle-Bu belongs to all of us, and with these initiatives, we aim to create a legacy of excellence in healthcare for Ghana and beyond,” he said.

Over six million Ghana cedis was pledge and various awards given to exceptional staff and personnel who over the years contributed to the achievement of the Korle Abu teaching hospital.
