KASA Equipe Journalists With Climate Change Reporting Skills
KASA, a civil society organization championing the course of climate change in Africa has equipped Ghanaian journalists with skills in climate change reporting.
The workshop held in at Miklin hotel in Accra, was opened by Chief Coordinating officer of KASA Initiative Foundation, Jonathan Goker.
The media training workshop was also supported by the Danish Embassy in Accra.
Mr. Goker urged participants to gain knowledge and build their capacity by acquiring the skills on climate change reporting.
The training was under the theme “strengthening climate change reporting in Ghanas”.
Participants were offered range of climate change information, such as Department of Climate Change documents, projects, donors, policies, bills, legislation, plans, and awareness activities that have been implemented within the Department.
In his comprehensive demonstration of climate change methodology, climate change adaptation manger, Mr Kyei Yamoah stated that the workshop aimed at providing opportunities to refine messages which participants were asked to prepare ahead of time and call on the media to monitor Government drafted key messages containing important points about climate change adaptation on various national issues.
“Prioritizing resilient development as one of the key national objectives for the various Joint National Action Plan was created as a necessary platform to propel the country towards integrating climate change and disaster risk management,” Yamoah stated.
With various implementation of the monitoring and evaluation system, a strong foundation was laid for mainstreaming climate change and disaster risk management.
The cooperation between international partners, government line ministries, and several NGOs built this foundation. Therefore, stakeholders have stepped up their contributions to focal points in KASA’s network in order to begin this mainstreaming.
