KACE celebrates 2017 Innovative Week
Kofi Anna Centre of Excellence (AITI – KACE) for ICT will be celebrating its 2017 edition of innovative week starting tomorrow 4th of December, 2017 in Accra.
The celebration will focus on embracing innovation and efficiency in all sectors including fast – tracking growth, success rate for start – ups and Small Scale Medium Enterprises (SMEs).
Speaking under the theme “Exponential Technologies and innovation; an Enabler in the Socio-Economic Development of Ghana,” the Technical Director of the center Mr. Erase Ofori explained that the event would focus on bringing together key stakeholders to celebrate on emerging ICT issues which would impact on the country’s skills development.
He said the annual event that would kick start on Monday and end on Thursday would find answers for real challenges, insights to help software careers and opportunities to network with the best developments.
Mr. Ofori said the event aim of showcasing ICT innovations in Ghana to other ECOWAS neighbors was to promote the teaching and learning ICT within the sub region.
In addition, the Director added that though the ICT represent a key element for economic and social development in Sub-Saharan Africa but it should be showcased and be promoted in all sectors of the economy including education, health, agriculture and business.
According to him, “it is high time development of home- grown applications, technologically, solutions, sustainable local ICT services, ICT driven business, making use open source technology need to be encourage and given exposure for the growth of the technology ecosystem”.
Madam Sarata Omani the Business Development Manager of the KACE on her part stated that this year’s event would unearth talents at the Senior High School Levels called the “Raspberry Pi for Senior High” where teams would be selected from Senior High Schools to develop an innovative solution to be presented at i-week.
She said there would be some high level discussion where CTO/CIO/IT managers celebrate on the current and potential threats to operational excellence and security challenges organizations are facing.
She indicated that management would discuss EXPONTech and Drone show where “Entrepreneurs who have build businesses on exponential technologies would share experience on to cash in on the emerging and lucrative EXPONTech.”
