John Mahama Engages Ghana Medical Association

John Dramani Mahama, flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress NDC on Monday met with the members of Ghana Medical Association, GMA at Korle -Bu in Accra , as part of his routine tour to interact with professional bodies in the country.

This follows meeting with the Ghana Bar Association , GBA and other relevant bodies in the country to discuss issues of national importance.

John Mahama interacted with the entire national executives of the Association led by its president Dr. Frank Ankobea.

The NDC flagbearer in his remarks explained to the GMA the importance of their contribution to national health policy.

He said his party’s manifesto committee would factor concerns and inputs of professional bodies to implement a national policy.

As co-chair of the Sustainable Development Goals SDGs, their mandate was to ensure good health for all people across the globe.

The NDC, he said would ensure proper coordinated health delivering system across the country especially the less privileged in society.

For him, most of the concerns the health sector faces including remunerations and their welfare would be looked at.

This , for him would be part of policies that his government will implement after they assume office in 2021.

Party chairman, Samuel Ofosu Ampofu gave the reason for the visit and added that the party is adopting a bottom up approach in tackling issues of national concern.

President of GMA Dr. Frank Ankobea, commended the delegation for seeking their views as they prepare their manifesto for the 2020 elections.

Dr. Ankobea indicated that the Association is non political but has its membership across the political devides.

He expressed hope that policy makers would heed to their calls and implement policy that will benefit the entire nation and also improves on the conditions of service of health workers.
