Citizens for Change and Accountable Governance (CCAG) is extremely worried at the alarming level of opulence and enthusiasm under which monies and goodies were shared to induce voters (delegates) in the just ended Parliamentary Primaries of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

We have observed with dismay some vote buying allegations leveled against some NPP aspirants and hereby request investigations into the matter to bring perpetrators to book.

CCAG is by this public statement calling on the governing NPP to as a matter of urgency show commitment in fighting intra-party monetization of election in the party to positively impact the country’s battle against vote buying.

Politicians, Political Science Lecturers, Political Analysts/Experts, Observers, Political Commentators and the Media shockingly comic and laugh about this unfortunate, undemocratic and retrogressive developments and make it seem normal on the various airways we (CCAG) have so far monitored.

This attitude if not spoken against or checked with deliberate efforts, will not only endanger or jeopardize Ghana’s democracy but threatens it existence.

The foundation of every good governance, stems from the freedom to choose a leader of your choice based on issues and not who has given more monies or goodies.

The “giver and taker” are all flaunting the principles of democracy and good governance and we urge H.E President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo as leader of the NPP, show the way to protect Ghana’s enviable democratic credentials and values by constituting a committee to probe all the allegations.

Long live Democracy.
