Hit the Ground Running-NDC Youth Group Charged

The Youth wind of the Greater Accra regional brach of the opposition National Democratic Congress NDC has charged its various constituency and branch leadership to hit the ground running towards mobilising grassroots support for the 2020 elections.

The is to ensure party’s strategic plans are implemented at various branches by going house to house to campaign to disseminate the party’s message to Ghanaians.

Speaking at the inauguration of the working committee and summit in Accra, the National Chairman of the NDC, Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo entreated the youth of the party not to be money conscious whiles working for the NDC but rather espouse and exemplify what the party stands especially in the development of the country.

Mr. Ofosu urged the party youth wing to sacrifice for the ideals of the party as they attempt to win back power from the ruling New Patriotic Party, NPP, government in the 2020 general elections.

“You must understand what the party stands for, the motivation for some of us to remain and kill ourselves for the party is not how much you will get for your pocket but because what the NDC tradition has done for Ghana…. Ghana only experience development when NDC is in power”. He said.

Touching on the theme: “Mobilising, Energising And Resourcing The Youth For Victory 2020,” Mr. Ofosu-Ampofo charged the NDC youth wing to approach mobilisation with an all hands on deck approach with a primary focus on the branch level.

He further entreated them to embark on issue-based campaigns since in his estimation, the NDC has an upper hand over the governing NPP in terms of visible achievements.

The National Organiser of the NDC, Joshua Akamba also warned that the youth will no longer be taken for granted.

He intimated that the period where people sacrifice for the party to win and are later ignored is over.

Mr. Akamba also admonished the youth wing if the party to be self disciplined and follow the structures of the party.

On his part, the Greater Accra regional Chairman of the NDC, Joseph Ade Coker, entreated party youth to desist from character assassination on social media and focus on working the grounds to ensure a resounding victory.

He said the time spent on social media can be used in engaging party members in the Constituency to ensure that the party wins the upcoming 2020 Presidential and Parliamentary elections.

The working Committees inaugurated were; Research & Strategy Committee, Media and Publicity and Monitoring and Evaluation.

The rest were Empowerment and Welfare, Administration and Student Affairs Committee.

Other Committees included, Former Youth Organisers Committee, Political Committee, Logistics, Mobilisation and finance and Operations and Programmes Committee.
