The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has initiated a full-scale internal investigation into allegations of extortion levelled against some officers of the Customs Division Task Force operating in the Ashanti Region.

In a press release issued from its headquarters at Off Starlets ’91 Street, Accra, on Thursday, 27th November 2025, the Authority confirmed that it had taken serious note of complaints raised by the Traders Advocacy Group Ghana (TAGG). According to TAGG, certain Customs officers allegedly intercepted containers headed for Kumasi, claimed the goods were undervalued, and demanded additional payments — actions the affected importer described as unjustified.

GRA assured traders, importers, and the general public that the allegations are being thoroughly investigated to establish the facts. The Authority added that the outcome of the probe will be made public upon conclusion.

Reaffirming its dedication to integrity, fairness and transparency, GRA encouraged stakeholders to continue reporting any suspected malpractice through its established channels to support efforts at ensuring accountability within its ranks.
