President John Dramani Mahama has marked the first anniversary of his historic election victory with a message of gratitude, renewed commitment and a strong call to continue building the Ghana he promised during the campaign.

In a statement issued by the Presidency Communications, President Mahama reflected on 7 December as a day when “Ghana spoke with one powerful voice”, describing the moment as one filled with anxiety, hope and unwavering faith from millions of citizens who queued patiently to vote for change.

He thanked Ghanaians for believing in the #ResettingGhana agenda and for trusting in the collective vision to “Build the Ghana We Want.” According to him, the victory was made possible by the determination of ordinary citizens who stood firm in reclaiming the nation’s future.

The President paid special tribute to polling agents who safeguarded the democratic process at various polling stations across the country, calling them the “eyes and ears” of the people. He noted that their vigilance and courage contributed greatly to neutralising any attempts to undermine the will of the electorate.

He also acknowledged the immense contribution of party executives, the election management team, communications team, operations team, strategy team and the entire campaign machinery, stating that their pre-election planning and coordination laid a strong foundation for the success recorded on election day.

President Mahama used the occasion to reaffirm his commitment to governing for all Ghanaians, without discrimination, exclusion or favouritism. He stressed that the Ghana they are building is one that offers equal opportunities, restores public trust in institutions and rewards hard work.

Together with Vice President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, he assured the nation that his government will continue to work tirelessly to rebuild hope, create opportunities and deepen confidence in leadership.

Addressing members and supporters of the NDC, the President stated that their reward will not be measured in positions or appointments but in the future being built for their children and generations yet unborn – a Ghana where justice prevails and opportunity is available to all.

He concluded his message with a firm reminder that the journey is far from over, adding, “The work goes on.”
